Our association would like to remind everyone who is studying or working in Taiwan to always ensure your personal safety and health. We have compiled a few things that you need to pay attention to.
Please keep in mind that:
1. Don’t look at your phone while walking on the street, and always be alert to your surroundings, especially at night time.
2. Avoid walking alone on the street. Ask a friend to be with you or walk in areas with crowds or brighter street lights.
3. Always update your friends or roommates the locations if you would need to go out alone, just in case.
4. Take legal taxi services if you would need to take a taxi home at night.
5. Avoid getting drunk if you are going home alone, make sure to be clear-headed.
6. Carry defensive objects with you, such as umbrellas.
7. Call 110 immediately if you suspect you are being followed or you are in an emergency.
As we are far away from home, our family members are the one who always worried about us. Since we are studying/working abroad alone, taking care of your own safety and health is the best return to your family. Be sure to contact your family when you have time, no matter how busy or tired you are. Lastly, we wish all students all the best, and always be united.
Video below is a couple words from the President of Malaysian Friendship and Trade Centre (MFTC), Ms. Sharon Ho.
